About Trevor

Chasing problems, in tech and in the sky.

I'm Trevor Leeper — a technology professional by day, an independent journalist, and a storm chaser whenever the skies get interesting. This is a little about who I am and what drives me.

Background & Mission

Curious by nature

My two worlds, technology and weather, are more alike than they look. Both reward patience, careful observation, and staying calm when conditions change fast. Whether I'm tracing a network or reading a developing supercell, I love figuring out what's really going on.

My mission is simple: keep systems running for the people who depend on them, and share the beauty and power of severe weather with anyone who wants to look up. Through this site I post my latest updates and follow along live as storms develop.

Professional Experience

What I do

Technology Professional

10+ years

I'm a technology professional with over 10 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, networking, and Apple device management. From managing hundreds of devices and complex networks to troubleshooting the occasional "Have you tried turning it off and back on?" situation, I've spent my career keeping technology running smoothly (or at least convincing it to cooperate). My background includes working with Jamf, Mosyle, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, and a variety of other systems. I enjoy solving problems, learning new technologies, and finding creative ways to make life easier for the people who rely on them. When I'm not battling technology, you'll probably find me chasing storms across the Texas Panhandle. Apparently, troubleshooting unpredictable computers wasn't exciting enough, so I decided to pursue unpredictable weather, too. Whether it's a network outage or a tornado warning, I guess you could say I've made a career out of keeping an eye on things before they go sideways!

Storm Chaser

Severe weather & meteorology

My storm chasing journey took a major leap forward in 2013 when my footage was featured by national media outlets for the first time. That same year, I made my first live national television appearance on The Weather Channel. Nothing quite prepares you for going live on national television while Mother Nature is doing her best to steal the show! Since then, my storm footage has been featured numerous times across national media outlets, bringing severe weather coverage from the field to viewers across the country. Storm chasing combines my passion for meteorology, technology, and photography with a healthy appreciation for just how unpredictable Mother Nature can be. From tracking developing storms to documenting severe weather as it unfolds, I enjoy sharing what I'm seeing and helping others better understand the weather around them. Some people run away from storms. I grab my cameras, check the radar, and head toward them. It's probably not the most conventional hobby, but at least the scenery is never boring!

Independent Journalist

Field reporting & local news

As an independent journalist, I cover more than just weather — I report on all kinds of local news stories that matter to the community. My storm footage and reporting have been featured by national media outlets, and I've appeared live on national television to break down unfolding weather events, but day to day I'm just as likely to be found covering local events, breaking news, and the stories that shape where we live. I believe in getting the story firsthand — on the ground, camera in hand, where it's actually happening. From documenting storms to covering community events and breaking news, my goal is to report accurately, honestly, and in a way that keeps people informed. Technology and journalism both come down to the same thing for me: pay attention, verify what you're seeing, and tell the story clearly.
